Hola y Bienvendidos to my blog! I hope you enjoy perusing my descriptions and interpretations of life in the Dominican Republic for the next 3 months.
First, let me explain some of the background - in August of 2007, I traveled with my church, the Austin Stone Community Church (http://www.austinstone.org/), and the non-profit organization Makarios (http://www.makariosinternational.org/) to the Dominican Republic to work with the children in the bateyes. Upon witnessing the extreme poverty in which these people live, I knew I wanted to do more to help. I prayed a lot about it and felt called to return and initially commit to a 3 month period.
I returned to Puerto Plata on January 15th, 2008 to assist with the Makarios school in Tamarindo (a bateye in Montellano), develop break-even assessments for the school and vocational farming program, and various other projects for the organization. hey lolo!!! miss you lots hope everthing is going good for you in the dr. i wish i could have been there to see you with your new friend banana bob i bet that was a sight. :) everything is great here trey is in his 3rd phase graveyard yuk i have seen jordan twins a few times they are sooo big you arent going to believe how big they are getting trey saw them at amy trospers wedding reception and he fell in love with mckenzie :) i hope to hear from you soon i am praying for you love you lots
